Abstract  When the novel coronavirus pneumonia outbroke in 2020, this public health emergency has attracted people's attention rapidly. Based on real-time data of Baidu index, this paper analyzes the spatio-temporal evolution characteristics of people's attention degree since the outbreak of novel coronavirus pneumonia epidemic through the spatial autocorrelation model. Moreover, this paper investigates the evolution mechanism of its spatial differentiation using the spatial variation function, and selects the geographical detectors to explore its influencing factors. The results show that:1) In the eastern, central and western regions of China, as well as nationwide, the nationwide network attention degree of the novel coronavirus pneumonia epidemic showed an "inverted V-shaped" evolution trend from January 16th to February 26th, 2020. 2) The novel coronavirus pneumonia epidemic network attention degree has significant spatial positive correlation, and the spatial characteristics of high and low concentration were obvious. 3) The spatial difference of network attention degree of novel coronavirus pneumonia epidemic has continued to shrink, the spatial differentiation caused by structural factors has gradually increased, and the scope of spatial correlation has expanded. 4) The strength of news media propaganda, and geographical location all affected the spatio-temporal evolution of network attention degree of novel coronavirus pneumonia epidemic in China.
